The company is an export-oriented garments manufacturing textile company that started its journey in 1991. The company has its own power plant to ensure uninterrupted power supply for their electrical Equipment in the plant.
Challenge
A trial was conducted to determine if the oil drain interval could be extended for a longer period than the current situation. Thecompany has two gas engines driving generators with a capacity of 1.067 MW. Their generators are from Jenbacher, Austria. The field trial was carried out on the Jenbacher JGS 320 GS NL Gas Engine with a sump size of 342 liters.
PETRONAS Expert Solution
The field trial commenced in April 2019 and was completed in July 2019. The condition of the oil was monitored to establish if the oil parameters and engine performance were within acceptable limits. All critical oil parameters were found to be within the limits, and no engine performance problems were experienced. The oil drain interval was extended to 2,550 hours, and the PETRONAS GEO NG maintained optimum oxidation and nitration stability. The TBN and TAN were retained within acceptable limits. The oil was found to be still fit for use even after 2,550 operating hours.
Result
The field trials successfully achieved the objective by extending the running hours to 2,550 with a significantly improved SLOC from 0.3 g/kW Hr to 0.09 g/kW Hr. This reduction in annual oil consumption by 4512 liters resulted in a saving of $15,309 on the annual maintenance budget.

The company is a yarn manufacturing textile mill that commenced operations in 2008. It owns a power plant to ensure an uninterrupted power supply for its electrical equipment.
Challenge
The company has three generators with a total capacity of 3090 MW. These generators are from Caterpillar, USA. This field trial was conducted on a CAT 3516 A Gas Engine with a sump size of 420 liters. The end-user was looking for a lubricant that could increase the oil drain intervals, which were typically 1500 hours, and lower the SLOC to achieve potential annual savings on the total cost of operations and the maintenance budget.

Established in 1962, the company is a leading textile machinery manufacturer in India and one of only three in the world to produce the entire range of spinning machinery. Additionally, the company specializes in foundry castings and aerospace components.
Challenge
The company previously used a competitor's product for spindle bearing lubrication in LRJ 9/SX ring spinning frames, with an oil life of 6 months (4,000 hours) for medium-speed spindles and 3 months (2,500 hours) for high-speed spindles. They tasked PETRONAS to propose a new spindle oil for better performance.

PETRONAS Spindle Oil 10 was recommended, and the PETRONAS team closely monitored the initial filling, periodic sampling for analysis, and top-up details. The trial lasted approximately 1.5 years, covering both medium-speed (20,000 RPM) and high-speed (25,000 RPM) spindles.
Result
After 1.5 years of using PETRONAS Spindle Oil, the company achieved 45% savings from extended oil drain intervals (ODI), doubling from 4,000 to 8,000 hours for medium-speed spindles (20,000 RPM) and from 2,500 to 5,000 hours for high-speed spindles (25,000 RPM). Challenge
The company engaged PETRONAS to implement a new spindle oil for the ring frame application in its textile equipment. Previously, the company utilized Bechem Beruspin Highgrade 10, which performed adequately. However, the company sought a product that could offer enhanced performance, resulting in greater savings and extended equipment lifespan.

Formulated with Group III base oil, PETRONAS Spindle Oil 10 was recommended to replace Bechem Beruspin Highgrade 10. The oil does not contact fabrics and oil staining is not an issue.
