In the ever-evolving landscape of the modern automotive manufacturing industry, achieving productivity, cost efficiency, and environmental sustainability remains a formidable challenge. When operating component manufacturing and assembly machines for an extended period at high temperatures and pressures, high-quality lubricants can significantly improve the operating life of the equipment, extend maintenance intervals and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
We deeply understand the challenges and root causes of issues and failures in machines and operations. This helps us work with our customers in solving the problems they face and provide sustainable solutions to meet customers objectives.
Explore the case studies that we have built over the years, where our solutions delivered tangible results that benefitted key industry players.

Metalworking Fluid
Customer
The company is a multinational corporation with a diesel engine manufacturing plant in Italy. The company's commencement of the F1 Series engine production have positioned it as a prefered supplier for Iveco Daily, Sevel Ducato and the Daimler Canter of Mitsubishi Fuso.
Challenge
The company sought a solution to replace the current metalworking fluid (MWF), aiming to reduce daily top-ups for its centralized system, BRM3. Additionally, the goal was to decrease the use of additives, maintenance, and consumption of the roll filter, extending the regeneration cycle beyond 1,200 seconds. The centralized system BRM3 delivers coolant to a multi-spindle machining center, which processes cast iron engine parts. The essential operations impacted by this system include turning, milling, drilling, and boring.
PETRONAS Expert Solution
With the previous metalworking fluid (MWF) solution, the company experienced issues of oxidation and rust on its cast iron engine parts, attributed to the low antioxidant power of the old emulsion. The PETRONAS Technical Team proposed a solution that addressed these issues while also offering clear financial advantages. This solution could be extended to other systems using MWF fluids that are more resistant to oxidation and contamination. The PETRONAS product has also been tested for compatibility.
Result
During a six-month field trial, PETRONAS Mecafluid S8 ECO outperformed the current product by offering a 30% reduction in daily top-ups. No chemical treatment with additives was required during this period, and there was a significant decrease in paper filter consumption, achieving a regeneration cycle time of 1,200 seconds compared to the 600 seconds with the previous product.

Compressor Oil
Customer
An auto manufacturer that produces 500X, Jeep Renegade and Compass which are exported over 100 countries around the world with 12,100 employees and annual production of 400,000 cards.
Challenge
The auto manufacturer sought to expand the lubrication applications of PETRONAS brand to replace competitor products starting with the hydraulics used on the presses. After successful application of PETRONAS Hydraulic HFDU, the auto manufacturer initiated a changeover of Fuchs Renolin DTA100 in 2 Komatsu presses in the stamping unit with PETRONAS Compressor AM 2 ISO VG 100 product previously used successfully in the same application in its Pomigliano plant.
PETRONAS Expert Solution
PETRONAS Compressor A M2, formulated with high-quality mineral oils and improved with specific antioxidant, anti-wear (Zinc free), anti rust and antifoam additives, provides control on deposits and oxidation residues enabling excellent oxidation stability for long life performance. PETRONAS also provided oil condition monitoring service that can also be used for immediate product analysis.
Result
PETRONAS Compressor A M2 product was used in 2 centralized systems of Komatsu presses with volume of 4,000 liters. The product demonstrated high thermal and oxidation stability, enabling the auto manufacturer to only top up physical fluid losses if required.

Hydraulic Fluid
Customer
A global company present in more than 120 countries, producing equipment for the agricultural and construction industries. In Brazil, it is located in the district of Vinhedo/SP, and produces telescopic handlers, aerial work platforms, and off-road forklifts.
Challenge
PETRONAS was tasked to provide a hydraulic lubricant with excellent cost-benefit ratio, that meets DIN 51524-Part II (HLP) standards, and has OEM approvals from BOSCH Rexroth, Fives, and Parker. The product needed to have the following functionalities: protection of equipment components during use, strong anti-wear protection, strong corrosion protection and compatibility with seals and elastomers.
PETRONAS Expert Solution
The PETRONAS Hydraulic 68, which meets the requirements of DIN 51524-Part II (HLP), as well as other OEM manufacturers (BOSCH Rexroth, Fives, and Parker) was proposed.
Result
Results showed that there were no complaints or rework related to the PETRONAS Hydraulic 68 hydraulic fluid. This positive impact on daily productivity established a trusting relationship between PETRONAS and the company.
Customer Speak
